Alex Richter has been training in the martial arts since the age of eight. Currently, he is one of the most successful instructors in the International Wing Tsun Association, running branches in New York City, Seattle, and Connecticut. Alex received most of his WingTsun training at Langenzell Castle, the headquarters for the European WingTsun Organization (EWTO). It was there that he trained WingTsun full time, six hours a day, five days a week. While in Europe he studied under the top masters of the EWTO from that time period.

Alex’s previous martial art experience includes seven years of Taekwondo (black belt), as well as Chinese wushu, grappling and Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do. He began training in Tsun Jo Wing Chun under Sifu Johann Sasynuik while living in a suburb of Seattle. This set him on a path that would eventually lead him to the Leung Ting system of WingTsun.

Alex prides himself on producing quality students by teaching WingTsun with strict standards just as he has learned it. In addition to teaching WingTsun to his regular students, Alex has also taught WingTsun to police officers, bouncers, and expert martial artists of other styles. A perpetual student, Alex continues on his WingTsun path through private instruction from Great Grandmaster Leung Ting and Sifu Carson Lau.

Outstanding Alumni & Special Thanks:

Sifu Dan Hsiao: City WingTsun would not be where it is today without the help and dedication of my si-dai (younger kung-fu brother) Sifu Dan Hsiao, one of my very first students. Sifu Dan has been an indispensible friend, promoter and training partner of mine for many years and I am very grateful to count him as one of my close allies. Like all good students however, they must eventually fly on their own. I am very proud of my student and little brother, even if he does claim too often to have "read my book" J. Sifu Dan is now back in California helping my other si-dai, Sifu Haw Kuo with his classes at Silicon Valley WingTsun. – Sifu Alex Richter

Sifu Haw Kuo: My stalwart west coast counterpart, it would be great to have him out here on the east coast with me more often. Sifu Kuo has been a great ally in fighting former pests, and continues to be a great training partner when we end up in the same training hall, country or continent.

Daniel Enge: Daniel Enge is one of my very good friends and students. He was already a WT instructor when I met him – we both have very similar backgrounds and share the same Si-fu. He actually only learned privately from me for a short time, but in that short time we managed to bond a very close friendship. Due to busy schedules, we have been unable to see each other much in these past few years, though we talk on the phone very regularly. I consider Daniel a part of City WingTsun as he is still affectionately known in my school as "German Dan". – Sifu Alex Richter

Gaute Forbergskog: Gaute is one of my closest friends and training partners from my old days in Germany at Langenzell. I can't even begin to calculate how many hours we have crossed hands in chi sau, lat sau, not to mention punched each other in the face. These are some of the things that made us extremely close and form the bonds that make us the great friends we are today. Gaute is currently back in his home country of Norway and I really wish we could see each other more - mainly so we can continue punching each other in the face and then enjoy a nice meal afterwards J - Sifu Alex Richter

Sifu Robin Tsang: I could not have asked for a cooler, more supportive Si-hing, than Sifu Robin Tsang in Hong Kong. Sifu Robin has always been extremely helpful and open in his friendship and support of me. I hope one day I can repay him for all his tremendous hospitality and service to me, my school and to WingTsun in general. 多謝師兄!

To all the phenomenal WingTsun instructors in Hong Kong who have shared their knowledge with me and inspired me to become the best Sifu I can be! I have had the extreme pleasure to learn from and witness the following instructors in Hong Kong: Sifu Cheng Chuen Fun, Sifu Leung Koon, the "happy fighter" Sifu Leung Kwok Wah, Sifu Yan Yiu Wing, Sifu Robin Tsang, and Sifu John Lau. You are all such an amazing inspiration for us "gwailo" out here, I consider myself so blessed to have the chance to travel to Hong Kong and witness you guys at the source.

To Sifu Jung-su Park in Korea – you are incredible, both as a skilled WingTsun sifu and human being. Sifu Jung-su you rock!

To all the great instructors in the EWTO who helped me lay a solid foundation before coming back to the USA: my own Si-fu, Grandmaster Keith R. Kernspecht, Sifu Thomas Schroen, (the late) Sifu Bernd Wagner, Sifu Thomas Mannes, Sifu Frank Ringeisen and Sifu Giuseppe Schembri – I respectfully salute all of you!

And last, but certainly not least I would like to thank my mom and dad, my wife and my extended family all over the world. You are my rock!
