Known as "The Kung Fu Genius," Sifu Alex Richter is a prominent Wing Tsun (Wing Chun) instructor in North America. He began his martial arts journey at age eight, earning a black belt in Taekwondo by fifteen. At twenty, he devoted himself to the Leung Ting system of Wing Tsun, which has since become his lifelong passion.

 

Sifu Alex specializes in integrating the Hong Kong style of Wing Tsun with contemporary Western teaching methods. His meticulous approach and deep understanding of Chinese culture distinguish him in the martial arts community. He has trained with esteemed masters, including Grandmaster Leung Ting, Cheng Chuen Fun, Lee Yun Tim, Carson Lau, and the late Grandmaster Keith Kernspecht. To enhance his martial arts and teaching skills, Sifu Alex is a private student of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Magno Gam (Renzo Gracie) and has trained in defensive and restraining tactics with a Gracie Academy-trained federal agent. He also holds certifications in K3 Combat Movement Systems under Dr. Mark Cheng, as well as in both the Movement Code and the Cardio Code from sports scientist Dr. Kenneth Jay.

 

Sifu Alex has appeared on the cover of Wing Chun Illustrated and has been featured in various international martial arts publications. Additionally, he has been highlighted in mainstream media outlets such as Harper’s Bazaar, USA Today, The Discovery Channel, VICE, and PBS.  He is also the host of the Kung Fu Genius Podcast.  He proudly resides in Queens, NYC.
